Outdoor Kitchen & Entertainment Area - Robertsdale, AL (Baldwin County)

In January 2024, Sovine Construction completed a full remodel of an outdoor kitchen and entertainment area, transforming it from an unusable space into a highly functional and inviting gathering spot. Originally built just two years prior, the structure had major flaws that required complete demolition and reconstruction to ensure stability, longevity, and usability.

Project Overview

We began by demolishing the existing structure, which had been poorly constructed with shallowly buried support poles only 12 inches deep causing structural instability. To correct this, we installed new pressure-treated poles buried 4 feet into the ground, providing a solid foundation for long-term durability.

Structural Enhancements & Roofing

Once the new structure was in place, we framed the roof system, securely tying it into the existing home. Given the low slope of the roof, we opted for a 26-gauge metal roof from Dixie Building Supply in Summerdale, AL, offering superior weather resistance over traditional shingles.

Electrical & Entertainment Features

To enhance the space’s functionality, we incorporated electrical features for an optimal entertainment experience:

• Eight recessed lights for balanced illumination.

• Two outlets dedicated to speakers and a TV setup.

• Speaker wiring installed to accommodate the client’s sound system.

- Custom Outdoor Kitchen

• Handcrafted cabinets with tongue-and-groove panels and custom doors.

• Durable concrete countertops for a modern and sleek finish.

• Built to house the client’s grill and Big Green Egg.

• Designed with a two-tier bar area, perfect for entertaining guests.

- Exterior & Ceiling:

• Installed Hardie board and batten siding, painted in a Sherwin-Williams color selected by the client.

• Created a two-tier tongue-and-groove ceiling, supplied by our local lumber yard in Robertsdale, AL, and sealed with a Sherwin-Williams wood sealer.

• The ceiling design was strategically crafted to expand gradually, leading to a vaulted effect at the home’s entry point, enhancing the sense of space.
